Au Bon Pain aims to align its broiler chicken policy with standards of the Global Animal Partnership. We intend to work with our suppliers to identify cost-effective solutions that make sense for all restaurants. We hope that with the help of other market participants, we will see the following across the restaurant industry by 2024:
• Use of new broiler breeds recognized as having higher welfare outcomes
• Provide birds more space, reducing stocking density
• Offer improved environments, including litter, lighting and enrichment
• Ensure birds are rendered unconscious using multi-step controlled atmospheric stunning
